Submission and content guidelines

At Outdoor Swimmer we welcome contributions from our readers and are happy to consider feature ideas from freelance journalists. To see the type of content we're looking for, in the first instance please see our Share your swimming stories page.

Short Submissions

For letters and other content for consideration of less than 300 words please send the complete text and any relevant images by email.

Longer Submissions

For longer submissions, please contact the editor in advance with a brief outline of the content you would like to submit. Tell us where you think it will fit in the magazine or the website and the type of images you have available.

Freelance writers, please contact the editor to discuss your idea.

Formats for submissions

All content should be submitted in Word format as an email attachment. Any images should be sent as separate files rather than embedded in the document. Writers should include a brief biography (two to three sentences) and a portrait photograph. If you have any links you would like to us to list or include, please send us details of those both in your email and as part of the document.

Any images for print publication should be high-resolution and preferably in jpg format. We print at 300dpi. An image file size in excess of 1MB is usually sufficient, except for pictures to go across a double page spread, in which case 2MB or more is preferred.

Permissions and copyright

Please ensure you have permission for us to print any images you send and include any credit information we need to add to images.

All queries and submissions should be sent to
