Immerse yourself in the excitement of swimming in the mighty River Shannon, Ireland’s longest and most impressive river! The charming village of Lanesborough, Co. Longford, beckons you to its picturesque shores, right on the border with Co. Roscommon, where the River Shannon meets the northern tip of Lough Ree.
New to 2025, there is a 12km route that has been added to this event but prior swimming experience is required in order to compete. For more regular swimmers, choose a distance that suits you 5.8km, 3.5km, or 800m. All the distances will take you with the flow of the current, setting this swim apart in the Gaelforce Great Swim Trilogy!
