Support Britain’s lidos
Lidos are vital blue spaces for those who cannot access coastal and often remote inland swimming sites. Peer network Future Lidos needs your help to continue supporting these community pools.
Peer network Future Lidos has launched a fundraiser to help continue its work supporting over 170 lidos and campaigns across the UK and Ireland.
Future Lidos is an informal network of projects across the UK and Ireland and its free-to-access toolkit provides assistance to future lidos needing help on how to start, existing lidos wanting advice on how to thrive, and at-risk lidos in need of a turnaround plan.
Lidos are vital community spaces for those who cannot access coastal and often remote inland swimming sites.
“We passionately believe that everyone has a right to the joy that outdoor swimming brings,” said Future Lidos director Deborah Aydon. “That joy is the fuel for individuals and communities. It brings us together, protects and mends our physical and mental health, and enables us to meet the many challenges of 21st century life. Lidos, crucially, make it accessible to all.
“This is vital work, but more than six months since our funded project ended, we’re running on empty. So we’ve launched an urgent appeal to help us sustain and grow our collective work.”
Future Lidos hopes to raise £30,000 to help grow and bolster their community network.
