The Big Blue launches new destinations in Crete
Swim holiday company, The Big Blue, has just announced a new destination for 2015. The Minoan Trail is a series of swims based around the untamed coastline of Sfakia region, south Crete.
The trip will be a six-day sea safari running from Sunday 4 October until Saturday 10 October. Averaging around 4km per day, the total distance covered during the week is 23km, and takes swimmers from Ayia Roumeli, past Sfakia to the Piyathas Peninsula.
In addition, there will be opportunities for a filmed swimming analysis and open water swimming coaching as well as sessions on breathing techniques and relaxation from a yoga specialist.
Big Blue co-founder Michael Koumbouzis says this swim holiday definitely isn’t about getting from A to B as quickly as possible.
“Swimmers will explore dozens of caves, below and above water, relax on remote beaches and peruse the rugged coastline with its churches and ancient ruins while stopping for lunch at hand-picked seaside tavernas with extraordinary surroundings and specialising in local cuisine. The famous ancient waterside cities of Tarra and Finix as well as some of the landscape can be visited on foot during lunchtime,” he says.
The trip costs £660 which includes accommodation but excludes flights and transfers.
