The Rivers Trust partners with the Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival to ask swimmers to race to revive rivers
We are extremely excited to announce that 2022 Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival (10 July 2022) has this year partnered with The Rivers Trust to ask swimmers to race to revive rivers and help communities thrive. The charity brings together the people, knowledge, data and intelligence to deliver improvements on the ground that will help rivers thrive again. With their expertise, reach and member Trusts’ local knowledge, they work with farmers, government and businesses to provide advice and resources for their communities – all to realise their vision of wild, healthy, natural rivers valued by all.
The partnership means that swimmers will have the chance to take part in the event for free in return for a fundraising pledge. The Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival will welcome over 1,600 swimmers next year and offers a swim distance for all the family. Swim distances include 200m splash for children aged 8 years plus (with the chance for an adult to accompany them for free), half mile, 1 mile, 2 mile and 4-mile swims. Other water-based activity on offer includes the Free Swim Lido Area where anyone can dip their toe in to the outdoor swimming experience.
Christine Colvin from The Rivers Trust comments on the new partnership: “We’re so thrilled to be an Official Charity Partner of the Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival 2022. We want people to be able to swim, paddle, catch and play in and around rivers without having to worry about pollution, but with little investment and many rivers failing to meet chemical standards, rivers are running out of time. This festival is a chance for anyone to join our mission to revive rivers – we can’t wait to cheer you on!”
Swim for The Rivers Trust at the Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival to save our rivers and help communities to thrive. Swimmers can sign up for any of the swim distances on offer and benefit from a free place in return for fundraising.
