Dryrobe launches its “next‑generation” changing robe, the Dryrobe® Nexus

Dryrobe, creators of the original waterproof outdoor changing robe, has just unveiled the Dryrobe Nexus. They describe it as: “a new hybrid garment designed to meet the needs of people who move between city life and outdoor adventure.”

Retailing at £225, the Dryrobe Nexus launches 25 February 2026 and aims to bridge the gap between technical change robe and stylish everyday parka.

I first met Dryrobe founder Gideon Bright at the Triathlon Show back in 2012, when he was selling an early version of what would soon become an essential piece of kit for outdoor swimmers. Back then, he was a one-man business operating out of a spare room and a van. At the time, it was hard to imagine that changing robes would not only become ubiquitous in the swimming community but would grow into an entirely new product category recognised internationally. The launch of the Nexus highlights how much the changing robe category has evolved alongside the growth of outdoor swimming.

The most innovative product to date

Dryrobe positions the Nexus as its most innovative product to date. It delivers a sleeker silhouette than the classic Advance robe, offering a more tailored aesthetic suited to everyday wear, while still retaining the spacious interior needed to change comfortably after a swim. The Nexus uses a tough, matte finished ripstop shell with 30,000mm waterproofing, fully taped seams and PFCfree BIONIC-FINISH ECO DWR. Dryrobe says these features are designed to withstand harsh weather on the shoreline or during a rain‑soaked commute.

Sustainability was a recurring theme at the launch event, where Gideon spoke at length about the company’s B Corp certification and how deeply it influences their design and manufacturing choices. True to that ethos, the Nexus is made entirely from GRS-certified recycled fabrics, with a recycled nylon outer and recycled polyester inner.

Inside, Dryrobe’s new fast-drying back2skin™ fleece offers a lighter-weight lining that helps swimmers warm up quickly post‑dip, while remaining comfortable enough for day‑to‑day use. Functional details include YKK® AQUAGUARD® zips, a peaked and adjustable fleece‑lined hood, reach‑through pockets for easy access to mid-layers, and multiple internal and external storage pockets.

Engineered for longevity, the Nexus comes with a three‑year performance guarantee—a statement of confidence from a brand long embedded in outdoor sport and adventure.

The Dryrobe® Nexus launches in Black and Dual Camouflage/Orange and is available now at dryrobe.com. We’ll publish an independent review once we’ve tested the Nexus.

I started Outdoor Swimmer in 2011 (initially as H2Open Magazine) as an outlet for my passion for swimming outdoors. I've been a swimmer and outdoor swimmer for as long as I remember. Swimming has made a huge difference to my life and I want to share its joys and benefits with as many people as possible. I am also the author of Swim Wild & Free: A Practical Guide to Swimming Outdoors 365 a Year, I provide one-to-one support to swimmers through Swim Mentoring and I'm the creator of the Renaissance Swimmer project.
