Entries open for Oceanman Benidorm
Oceanman has announced that entries are now open for the final open water swimming race in their 2015 series which takes place in Benidorm (Alicante, Spain).
The opening day of the event features a 10km race, kicking off at Poniente beach, circling Benidorm Island (a nature reserve famous for its peacocks) before finishing at Mal Pas beach.
“Benidorm is of course very well known among the British Market,” says Aida Molina, Oceanman founder and CEO. “Unfortunately, it has a bit of a negative image that’s been projected through TV shows. However, there is so much more to Benidorm than sun and beer. We have postcard-perfect views and landscapes of outstanding natural beauty that provide a unique setting to frame this thrilling swimming experience.”
In addition to the full 10km race there will also be a half-Oceanman distance race of 5.5km, again circling Benidorm Island, while novice swimmers can tackle the non-competitive popular race of 1.5km.
The event takes place on 25 Oct and Oceanman are offering early bird discounts to the first 50 people that enrol for the swim.
The expected water temperature is around 20-22 degrees Celsius. The organisers recommend wetsuits but they will not be compulsory. Swimmers will also be able to test themselves against some of Spain’s fastest open water swimmers including Adrián González and Tere Fullana.
