Entries open for the V Cup MARNATON eDreams

Catalan-based swim events company Marnaton has just opened entries for the V eDreams MARNATON Cup, which this year includes four events covering more than 20km of the Catalan coastline.

The first event takes place on 7 May at La Playa de Sant Sebastià in Barcelona. This is a family-friendly 2km event including both individual and team challenges. Event two is on 12 June in Begur and has two options: a challenging 7km swim from Aiguablava to Sa Riera and a 3km swim from Sa Tuna to Sa Riera. There is also a children’s event and paella for participants post swim.

On 2 July it is the turn of 5th MARNATON eDreams Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Participants can choose between the 6km swim from Canyet to Sant Feliu de Guíxols or the new distance introduced last year of 1.5km from Port Salvi to Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Both swims take in the spectacular nature of swimming through the Pas del Freu, a passage which is only 5m wide and 10m high and which is the entrance into Sant Feliu.

The final event of the V MARNATON eDreams Cup will be on 17 September in Cadaqués. This is the ninth year of this particular swim. This year, for the first time, there will be three distances to choose from. The 6.5km swim from Cap de Creus to Cadaqués beach, the 2.5km swim from Caials to Cadaqués and a new 4km distance from Portlligat to Cadaqués. At the end of the day, all the participants are invited to a party in Cadaqués town square.

In 2015 almost 4,000 swimmers took part in the series. Marnaton, which was created in 2008, specialises in promoting long distance swimming with a focus on safety, the environment and creating a family atmosphere. The series is sponsored by the online travel agency eDreams.
