Exciting new chapter for Scilly Swim Challenge

The popular Scilly Swim Challenge event – one of its kind amongst the open water community – will return next year as part of the SwimQuest family of swimming holidays and events. The Scilly Swim Challenge consists of six sea swims, and six walks between the stunning islands, with time for a quick rest and a bite to eat in between. The total swimming distance is 15km, with the longest swim leg being 6km and the shortest being 600m. Walks are between 600m and 2km. Participants can choose to swim the six swims on one day, or instead choose a more leisurely version in the two-day event.

After a sixth sell-out year, Scilly Swim Challenge founders Nick and Bryony Lishman and Dewi Winkle will be working with SwimQuest to ensure these events continue to run with the same friendly and inclusive ethos they have become well-known for. The Challenge is about enjoying the swimming experience with fellow swimmers, it is not a race.

said: “We are delighted that Nick, Bryony and Dewi have asked us to take the Scilly Swim Challenge events into their next chapter. SwimQuest has always been about enabling open water journeys for everyone, and we can’t wait to add this open water experience to our portfolio.”

Scilly Swim Challenge’ founders Nick Lishman and Dewi Winkle said, “It has been a delight to watch the Scilly Swim Challenge community grow and this event thrive on the islands over the past six years. It truly is one of a kind; there is no better way to experience the Isles of Scilly than to walk and swim between them! We are thrilled to be working with SwimQuest to ensure we can continue to provide this unique swimming experience for the growing community of open water swimmers.”

The Isles of Scilly are home to large tides and swimming conditions can often be challenging, so participation in this event is a fantastic way to complete swims you would never ordinarily be able to complete without an experienced safety team in place. The one-day event will take place on Tuesday 7 September 2021 and the two-day event on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2021. Entries to the SwimQuest Scilly Swim Challenge 2021 will open on 11 January 2020 at swimquest.uk.com.
