World’s largest gathering of mermaids

Fancy playing a part in a mermazing world record? The Mermaid Challenge will take place at Tinside Lido in Plymouth, on Bank Holiday Thursday 2nd June 2022 at 9.30am and aims to set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of merfolk.

Kicking off the Platinum Jubilee long bank holiday weekend celebrations, both mermaids and mermen are encouraged to join in. The challenge will take place on dry land on the decking area of the lido so you won’t be required to swim to take part. Outfits can be bought or homemade, but need to be convincing – Guinness are very specific about what will count.

Tinside is a beautiful art deco lido built in 1935 – you’ll find it on the foreshore of Plymouth Hoe right on the sea front. It’s an unheated salt water pool with plenty of decking and a sunbathing area.
