New musical inspired by the story of Save Grange Lido

Inspired by true events, All Those On Board follows the story of a group of determined swimmers desperate to restore their seaside town’s art deco lido to its former glory

A new musical is getting ready to make a splash this spring, touring venues across North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

All Those On Board, written by ECR Roberts, follows the story of a ‘Save Our Lido’ group intent on reopening the art deco lido in the fictional town of Bingham-by-the-Sea. It is inspired by the true events of the ‘Save Grange Lido’ campaign in Grange-over-Sands. Excitingly, this Cumbrian seaside town will be one of the hosts of the musical along the production’s tour route.

“When Kate, Lucy and Alice visit Bingham-by-the-Sea to wind up their late aunt’s affairs, they fall in with the local ‘Save Our Lido’ group of which their aunt was the founding member,” reads the musical’s synopsis.

“Before long, they are fully fledged members of the group, intent on saving and reopening the town’s 1930s art deco lido which has been closed for almost 30 years. With a deadline for demolition fast approaching, the group members are determined to come up with the funding to save the lido, no matter what lengths they have to go to.”

Featuring original songs, leg-kicking choreography and splendid swimming hats, this new musical from Drip Drop Theatre is a must-see for fans of upbeat musical theatre, not to mention fans of outdoor swimming in whatever form.

All Those On Board goes on tour 30 May to 8 June.
