dryrobe® launches Adapt – a change robe designed with wheelchair users in mind

Leading outdoor change robe brand dryrobe® launches world’s first adaptive robe at the 2023 ISA World Para Surfing Championships in California, USA.

dryrobe®, the world’s leading outdoor change robe brand, has worked closely with the para-sports community to launch the dryrobe® Adapt – a first of its kind adaptive robe which has been designed with wheelchair users in mind.

Unveiled at the 2023 ISA World Para Surfing Championships earlier this month, the pioneering change robe reflects the brand’s commitment to making their products and water sports more accessible to everyone.

The groundbreaking garment consists of an upper and lower half that zip together to protect its wearer from the elements. Designed to be used as a long coat rather than a traditional changing robe, the detachable lower half allows the dryrobe® Adapt to be worn as a ‘sleeping bag’ in colder climates, while the upper half can be used as a separate jacket on warmer days.

Making outdoor swimming more accessible

The launch of the dryrobe® Adapt is part of the brand’s passion for keeping people warm and dry when getting active outdoors and making water sports such as surfing and swimming more accessible for everyone.

Maintaining all the high-performance materials as the company’s signature product, the dryrobe® Advance, the dryrobe® Adapt is crafted with 100% recycled fabrics. It has a waterproof and windproof outer shell made from recycled nylon, as well as a warm and unique inner lining made from recycled polyester. The fabrics are coated with eco-friendly BIONIC-FINISH® ECO water-repellent technology, which reduces the need for washing and extends the lifespan of the garment. The dryrobe® Adapt also features minimal sealed seam construction which enhances the durability and performance of the product.

The dryrobe® Adapt is designed to fit any body shape and size, with a range of features that ensure a comfortable and convenient fit for all wheelchair users. These include a drawcord adjustable fleece-lined hood, deep fleece-lined external pockets, an internal waterproof zip entry pocket and bright red drawcords for ease of use for the visually impaired. The dryrobe® Adapt also comes with its own ‘stash bag’ which can be used for storage and transport.

“We are absolutely thrilled to launch the dryrobe® Adapt, which is part of our commitment to making our products – and the water sports we love – more accessible to everyone,” said dryrobe® founder, Gideon Bright. “We’re incredibly strong believers that anyone should be able to enjoy getting active outdoors and we’ve worked closely with the para-sports community to develop this product.”

The dryrobe® Adapt is priced at £165 and is available from dryrobe.com. Stay tuned for our review of the dryrobe® Adapt. This article contains affiliate links; if you buy a product through a link on this page we may receive a commission.
