Liam Tancock joins Swimzi
Liam Tancock has become a shareholder and will join the board of new global sportswear brand Swimzi Ltd.
Backstroke and medley swimmer Tancock is a three-times world champion, four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist and current world record holder, making him one of Britain’s most successful swimmers. He has twice competed in the Olympics although his favoured event, the 50m backstroke, is not part of the Olympic programme. Now age 30, he will have another shot at an Olympic medal in Rio later this year.
Swimzi provides custom designed club kit and leisurewear to pool and open water swimmers including their take on the onesie, which they call the ‘Swimzi’, and their XK technical jacket aimed at open water swimmers and triathletes. (For an interview with Swimzi founder Chris Hartley see H2Open Magazine Dec 15/Jan 16).
Both the iconic Swimzi and technical XK are brilliant pieces of kit and the brand’s custom designed deck uniforms deliver a whole new meaning to team identity. Years of race experience have taught me how important it is to have a competitive edge. For both teams and individuals creating a visual presence at meets instils a sense of confidence, self-belief and seriously enhances your race face.

Open Meets
Tancock says: “I am very excited and proud to announce that I will be joining the Swimzi team. I hope to bring a different aspect to an already world class group. Having been involved in competitive sport for the majority of my life, I have gained a vast amount of sporting knowledge that I am keen to bring into the business world. As an elite athlete I know how important it is to look the part when representing both club and country.
Tancock adds that his role in the business will be to help develop the brand on the global stage.
