How do you prepare your mind and body for long-distance swimming?

For our Outdoor Swimmer Virtual Event Series we welcomed Olympian and world record holder Neil Agius to find out about his thoughtful and spiritual approach to training.

Neil represented Malta in the men’s 400m freestyle in the 2004 Athens Olympics. He then turned his efforts to ultra-endurance swimming. He set a world record for swimming 125.7km from Linosa in Italy to Malta, which took him more than 52 hours. Other successes include a 37km swim around Gozo and a 70km circumnavigation of Malta. Last year he attempted a 100-mile swim from Mallorca to Ibiza.

As well as the physical side of training, Neil puts a lot of work into his mental preparation. In our webinar we explored how he uses meditation, breathwork and visualisation to support his training.
