Towel ponchos: supersoft cosiness

From cold-water dips to cosy comfort: digital editor Abigail Whyte tests Dryrobe’s new Organic Towel Ponchos

Who else loves the feeling of slipping into a supersoft towel robe that’s been warmed by the sun, wrapping it around your wet, chilly body after a swim?

It’s definitely one of Abi’s favourite parts of her post-swim ritual, and she recently had the chance to try one of Dryrobe’s Organic Towel Ponchos, made from 100% organic cotton.

The new range comes in five colours, including a vibrant hot pink that immediately caught Abi’s eye.

Clever new design

Sometimes, after a long, cold swim, all you want is to wrap yourself in a big, luxurious towel, hot chocolate in hand.

That’s exactly how I felt wearing the Dryrobe® Organic Towel Poncho. It took me right back to childhood beach days, feeling warm, cosy and completely snug after a day of adventures.

The towel robe collection has been refreshed for 2026, with handy new features including side pockets and an adjustable hood (adult sizes only).

I’ve tried other towel robes with hoods that felt small and restrictive, but I loved the generous fit of the Dryrobe® hood and the ability to tighten it against the elements using the drawcords. The pockets were perfect for stashing my car keys and a post-swim snack, while the roomy fit made changing in and out of my swimming costume easy and comfortable.

The towelling fabric is wonderfully soft, highly absorbent and quick-drying. Even after a dip, I could wear it comfortably between swims without feeling damp or weighed down.

A towel robe with a zip!

I also had the pleasure of trying the Dryrobe® Full-Zip Towel Robe, which features a full-length YKK® zip down the front, making it effortless to slip on and off.

Most towel robes need to be pulled over your head, which isn’t always ideal when your hair is wet, so the full-length zip is a genuinely clever addition. I also loved the velour fabric, made from 100% organic cotton, which felt wonderfully soft against the skin.

And, just like the rest of the range, it’s available in a selection of gorgeous colours that look as good as they feel.
