Durley Sea Swims starts this weekend

English Channel training starts again this weekend at Durley Chine, Bournemouth.

Swims will run every weekend day from May to September, starting this Saturday 2 May. Start times are 09:00 in May and then 08:00 from June to September. Alongside the weekend swims the group also organise Friday night fireworks swims taking place every Friday between 24 July and 28 August. The idea is to experience swimming in the dark – an anxiety for many swimmers – while having a bit of fun and the unique viewpoint of watching fireworks from the water.
Prospective swimmers will need to complete a Declaration Form before entering the water. These can be filled in on the day or obtained in advance from Marcus Wadsworth (see contact details below).
The beach at Durley Chine is sandy and the water clear. The beach has been awarded Blue Flag status. There’s also (if you arrive early enough) free parking.

The weather forecast for this weekend is as follows:
Saturday 2 May, 10:00
Wind speed 15 knots from north-west, waves of 1.6m, air temperature 10c, cloudy
Sunday 3 May, 1000
Wind speed 11 knots from north-east, waves of 1.8m, air temperature 12c, cloudy
