Free parking for swimmers!

No need to worry about where to park before a swim in the Lake District, a pub near Ambleside has come up with a great idea: free parking for swimmers.

The 17th century Badger Bar Inn at Rydal is just 100 metres from Rydal Lake. Says owner Paul Knowles: “Wild swimmers are common now in our lovely little lake, but finding parking can be a struggle. We have a large car park in such a stunning location, and are pleased to offer this service.”
Swimmers can park for free but the inn asks that in return they come in for a post-swim drink or snack. “Groups of swimmers regularly visit and come in the lovely old bar afterwards for hot chocolate or chips,” says Knowles. The offer is available every day apart from Sunday.
