Macmillan adds two venues for its 2015 Lido Challenge

This year Macmillan Cancer Support’s own sponsored swim, The Macmillan Lido Challenge, will be held at two additional venues – Letchworth Lido in Hertfordshire and Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham (a personal favourite for H2Open founder Simon Griffiths after spending many happy childhood summers there). The series will also introduce a new, more challenging, 5km distance at the existing events – Pells Pool in Lewes and Tooting Bec Lido in London.

Launched in 2013, the Macmillan Lido Challenge has raised more than £195,000 for Macmillan to date. After two hugely successful years, the series is now expanding and is expected to attract at least 700 swimmers in 2015 and raise £200,000 for people affected by cancer.
Participants can choose to take on the challenge as an individual or as part of a relay team, and family and friends are more than welcome to come along for support on the day. Entry to the Macmillan Lido Challenge is just £20 and there is no minimum sponsorship target – entrants are simply encouraged to raise as much as they can.
Emma Lovesey, Challenge Events Programme Manager at Macmillan said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be expanding the Macmillan Lido Series for 2015. It is really exciting to have two new venues as well as the new 5km distance at Lewes and Tooting. The events are always a lot of fun and have a fantastic atmosphere, and above all raise vital funds to support people living with cancer.”
Macmillan predicts by 2030 there will be 2.7 million people living with, or beyond, cancer in the UK, so we need everyone to get on board and help us ensure no one faces cancer alone.”
