Swim around Derwent Island at the Keswick Mountain Festival

If you fancy an early season swim in the Lakes next year, Keswick Mountain Festival has announced that its 10th anniversary programme will include a 1500m open water swim around Derwent Island. The festival runs from Thursday 19 until Sunday 22 May 2016 and will host its biggest ever programme of outdoor and sporting activities, including triathlons, trail runs from 5km to 50km and a cycling sportive.

“This year, we saw a big leap in the number of participants in the sporting events at Keswick Mountain Festival, but the clear message from visitors was that they had an appetite for even more options,” said Lucy Scrase, KMF sporting director. “The sports programme is also really popular for other festival visitors who want to watch the action and I think that the way we will stage and timetable everything in 2016 will be really spectacular for everyone involved.”
The festival is one of the biggest and best loved outdoor events in the UK, with over 17,000 visitors in 2015, including over 2,000 who participated in the sporting events.
Entry to the sporting events opens on Thursday October 22.
