Zoggs renews Swimathon partnership for 2016
Swim kit maker Zoggs is the official brand partner for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon for 2016, the company announced yesterday.
Swimathon is an annual swimming challenge that sees thousands of swimmers tackling 5k, 2.5k and 1.5k individual challenges or team 5k and 1.5k challenges in pools around the UK. In 2016 the list of more than 600 participating pools will also include eight lidos so swimmers will have the option to complete their swims outdoors (see list below).
Since 1986, Swimathon has raised more than £42 million for charitable causes and in 2016 will be helping Sport Relief to raise cash and change lives. Half of all the money the public raises is spent by Comic Relief in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities.
Swimathon President and Olympic gold-medallist Duncan Goodhew says: “I love Swimathon because it gives people a goal to train for, an extra reason to get in the pool and above all else it helps to raise money for a truly fantastic cause.”
The 2016 event will take place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 March 2016, and registration is now open. Half price entries are available for a limited period.
“Swimathon is the perfect event for us to support,” says David Annand, UK Marketing and PR Manager at Zoggs. “It is about the whole swimming community coming together to have fun and raise significant funds for Sport Relief.”
