Are you ready for The Big Swim?

On Wednesday 26 July, Olympic long distance swimmer will be launching The Big Swim challenge in partnership with EdenTree Investment Management, raising funds and awareness for the Black Swimming Association (BSA).

The Big Swim is a month-long swim challenge to support the BSA, a charity Alice helped co-found, that encourages inclusion and positive relationships with water among all communities.

According to Sport England, 95% of black adults and 80% of black children do not swim in England, and research from the WHO confirms that the risk of drowning is higher among minority ethnic people.

However, the issues for water safety go deeper with 1 in 4 of all children leaving primary education in England unable to swim. EdenTree Investment Management and the BSA are committed to help make change and save lives.

What’s involved in The Big Swim?

By joining the challenge and logging your miles on Strava you can help unlock a donation of £20k from EdenTree to the BSA. EdenTree are part of a group of financial services businesses that have given over £200m to charity in the last three years.

All we need to do is collectively swim 3,000km (the distance Alice swims in a year!) to unlock the £20k.

The challenge kicks off on 26 July 2023 and will be open for a month on Strava. Your target can be a length of your local pool or perhaps you can get closer to Alice’s competition distance of 10k. All amounts will contribute to the final total.

So let’s get swimming and save lives!
