Amy Ennion becomes first person to swim from Guernsey to France

Amy Ennion from Kent, England, has made history by becoming the first person ever to swim from Guernsey to France.

Amy completed the 30-mile swim, which had only been ever attempted twice before, in 15 hours, 59 minutes and 25 seconds, after battling a strong current and tides throughout.

“The tides were not kind to us,” Amy wrote on Instagram. “The current was not easy, and Mother Nature did not let the crossing go without a fight. But I made it. First person ever.”

The crossing was last attempted in August last year by Adrian Sarchet who was forced to abandon his crossing because of a strong tide after 11 hours in the water.
