Swimming Events Guide 2024

Chillswim launches Swallows & Amazons swim

Lake District based swim company Chillswim has added another event to its programme: The Swallows and Amazons Swim.

The new event follows a trial last year and takes place as part of Coniston Regatta and Swallows and Amazons weekend on 1 and 2 August 2015. Coniston Water is of course the setting for Arthur Ransome’s famous Swallows and Amazons book.
The swims take place on the Saturday and include 1 mile and 5km challenges as well as a family fun swim.
Swimmers will also be able to join in the Regatta, which will host a series of water-based events and land-based activities throughout the day, including live music and food.
Both the 1 mile and 5km swims will be on a circular 1 mile course, with swimmers needing to complete three laps for 5km.
Expected water temperature is around 17 degrees and wetsuits are optional.
“As well as being a great family event – ideal for a weekend get-away – it’s also ideal preparation for anyone entering our 5.25 mile length of Coniston swim in September,” says race organiser Colin Hill.
Colin also added that Chillswim still has places left in its historic cross-Windermere swim that takes place on 27 June.
