A new swim challenge for the new year

Could you swim 100 miles in a year? How about 1,000? Sign up to the Endurance Swim Challenge 2023, which is raising money to support para athlete Kira Stevens

Do you think you could swim 100 miles in a year? How about 1,000? If you’re looking for a new swim challenge for the new year, registration is now open for the Endurance Swim Challenge 2023.

Hosted by Gulf Coast Multi-Sport, the annual swim challenge is open to athletes of all ages and abilities. Individuals can choose to swim 100, 200, 300, 500 or 1,000 miles. Or, if you’d like to do the challenge with friends, teams up of up to four swimmers can opt for the 500-mile swim challenge or the 1,000-mile swim challenge. The challenge can be completed over the course of the year.

Funds raised by the event are going to support Kira Stevens, a multi sport para athlete with cerebral palsy. She hopes to travel to the Junior Nationals, a World Grand Prix event and an international event in Europe.

Kira has participated in the Endurance Swim Challenge the last three years and completed 100 miles the first year and over 100 miles as part of a team in 2021.

The host’s preferred method for tracking distance is through the Garmin Connect app. Once you register for the event, you will receive a link to the event’s private Facebook group and the Garmin challenge.
