Outdoor swimmers wanted for a new psychology study

Are you an open water swimmer who has experienced a challenging life event in the last two years?

Psychology researchers from the University of Derby are inviting outdoor swimmers to take part in new study that aims to understand how open water swimming can impact protective factors related to resilience, at a time when people experienced challenging or adverse life events.

Taking part involves an initial survey to ascertain eligibility. If eligible, you will be invited to interview, which may last between 30 minutes to 1 hour. The interview will take place online, will be planned at a time to suit the participant. Participation will remain confidential and anonymous and is completely voluntary.

The interview will cover questions such as during a challenging life event, how open water swimming made you feel about yourself, about your connection to others, about connection to a purpose, among others.

Click below to find out more and express your interest by 31 May, with all interviews expected to be completed by 30 June.
