Blind Ambition: watch Gerrard Gosens’ incredible story
In July, blind athlete Gerrard Gosens attempted to swim the 20 Bridges circumnavigation of Manhattan Island and the English Channel in the same month. A new film, Blind Ambition, charts his remarkable challenge.
A new film documenting blind athlete Gerrard Gosens’ swim challenge attempt – the 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan Island and the English Channel crossing within a single calendar month – has been released.
Directed Anthony Gordon, Blind Ambition is “a story of courage without boundaries, of finding light in total darkness, and of one man and his teams fight to etch his name into history’s tides.”
Blind since birth, Gerrard has never let vision loss define his limits. A three-time Paralympian, Everest climber, and Order of Australia Medal recipient, Gerrard achieved his 20 Bridges Swim (48.5km) on 11 July. Despite his valiant effort in the English Channel, three miles from the French coast, Gerrard’s swim had to be stopped because of dangerous water and wind conditions.
