What was Roger Deakin really like?

Roger Deakin, the author of Waterlog, is credited with being a driving force behind the revival of outdoor swimming. But what was he like as a person? Patrick Barkham shares stories from his recent biography The Swimmer: The Wild Life of Roger Deakin
